RATES

Square Inch Price

I charge 3 cents per square inch for all designs.

Example: A quilt top is 60 inches x 80 inches. 60 x 80 = 4800 x .03 = $144.

My minimum quilting charge is $50. This means that a small quilt or a table runner square inch price will be rounded up to the $50 minimum.

Batting

I use and stock my favorite Quilters Dream batting in the 80/20 cotton/poly blend and 100% cotton. The 100% cotton option is a mid-loft (not very heavy or thick), is still warm, yet light and breathable. The 80/20 cotton/poly blend option is also a mid-loft option that uses long fine poly microfibers and adds volume, reduces shrinkage, and helps reduce wrinkles.

Batting is a separate charge and is NOT included in the square inch price.

I charge for batting by the linear inch from queen rolls of batting except in the case of special orders.  I will use only what is needed for your quilt (smallest side + a 5" margin) and charge per inch.

For example, if you have a 60" x 80" quilt, I would cut 65" of the batting of your choice.
65" of 100% cotton mid loft @ $0.40/in = $26.00
65" of 80/20 cotton/poly blend @ $0.37/in = $24.05

If you would like a different batting than the ones mentioned above, please let me know! You can supply your own batting and send it in with your quilt top or I can special order from Quilters Dream one of their other products, such as Dream Wool, White Poly, Black Poly, Bamboo, Green (made from recycled bottles), and/or Angel (flame retardant).

Other Services and Costs

Other services I offer are:

Sew and prep backing: $25

Quilt prep (iron, removing stray threads): $15

As mentioned above, batting is not included in the square inch price. I'm required by the State of Michigan to collect a 6% sales tax on the batting portion of an invoice. Quilting, shipping, and any design/pantograph fees are not subject to sales tax.

Thread

I stock a few brands and weights of polyester thread, such as Superior The Bottom Line (#60) and So Fine! (#50) as well as FIL-TEC Magna Glide (#50) and Premo Soft (#50). I don't charge any extra fees for thread use, it's included in your square inch price.

My personal style attempts to match or blend thread color with the lighter areas of your quilt. If you'd like the quilting and/or thread to be more prominent on your quilt, we can choose the appropriate color and weight of thread to make your vision come to life.

Photography

I'm not a professional photographer but I do my best to take "nice" photos. Upon completion of the quilting, I will take photos of your quilt in my well-lit studio and then text/email you those images to use however you would like. I'd just ask that you credit me for the photo and/or quilting if posting publicly. This extra service is included in your square inch price.

Also, I'd love to promote your beautiful work! In the 'Book a Quilt' form, you can note if it is okay for me share your quilt on my social media and ask that you include the pattern name, pattern designer, and/or any special fabrics that your quilt features. If you need to keep this project secret, please indicate that as well!

Shipping

I live in Michigan and would be happy to receive your top and backing by mail. I'd recommend sending your materials enclosed in some kind of sack or bag to protect against possible moisture in transit and then placed in a hard-sided cardboard box. Make sure the box is securely taped and labeled clearly.

Return shipping: I will send your quilt back to you in the manner described above via USPS Priority mail (using flat rate when possible/economical). Priority mail comes with $100 of insurance and a tracking number but please indicate on your intake form if you would like me to buy any additional insurance on your behalf. It's a great idea to insure your valuables against loss or damage while with the Postal Service, but I don't require it.
